This book could tie in with the study of World War II in social studies, of course. At this time of year, the book could be a Lit. Circle choice. In Literacy class, it could be a read aloud by the teacher. The narrator of the story talks to his "grandchildren' as if he is telling the story to them. However, there are times when this format is lost and the book becomes dry. Perhaps sections of this book could be summarized for students in order to keep their interest. SallyC
